Matlacha Mariners & Matlacha Hookers

The Matlacha Mariners, are a group of men who have organized to try and help with some of the local needs of our community that are not being met otherwise.

This is an amazing success story. The Matlacha Mariners (Spearheaded by Jerry Tolliver) have come through with a truly remarkable gift to a US Serviceman and his family (big family). Jerry raised all the money to bring a family of 6 to Lee County. See below their prior option. When I read this letter, I had to find a way. And  We did! To date, OOA has NEVER denied a request for benefits.

Hi.  My name is Beatriz Guerra and first of all I'd like thank you for all you do for our servicemen.  I am a proud wife of SSG Guerra, Francisco who is on his second 15 month deployment to Iraq with 4th Brigade 1st Cavalry Division.  My husband has gone through so much, for example, the extremely hot weather, the working 7 days straight,  stress and more stress, away from home, just to mention a few.  Fortunately, my husbands tour is almost concluding in December and I've heard so many successful stories you have given our soldiers.  We are stationed in Ft. Bliss, Texas and I'd like to know if there is anything I can do to make my family reunion a magical and memorable one.   I have four children, Lorena 7 yrs., Lucero 5 yrs., Frankie 3yrs., and baby Larisa 19 months so it makes it a little hard to find somewhere to go or do other than the park and McDonalds.  My husband has his one month leave 15 days upon his arrival so we are trying to travel somewhere with the family for January.  Is there any tips or suggestions on what i could do so my husband can feel a warm welcome and relaxation for his block leave?

Thanks again and my best regards,

Beatriz Guerra Proud Army Wife
